Pov. You watch your dad-in-law being crowned King 👑 (Chief) of the William Moyo Kingdom (Village) in Mzimba district.

Let me give you a brief history lesson on B's tribe - the Ngoni people.

The Ngoni trace their roots to Southern Africa particularly among the Zulu. In the early 1800s, the Zulu kingdom, under the leadership of Shaka Zulu, began consolidating power through military expansion.

It was marked by constant wars between Zulu-aligned and rival tribes and migrations of people escaping Shaka’s military campaigns. (He was ruthless!)

B's great-grandfather, Ngoni, had migrated to Zimbabwe. During this time, due to the wars, a Great Migration to the North occurred, with two primary routes: the Western and Eastern routes.

🛡️Western Route:
Around 1820, led by Zwangendaba, the largest and most influential Ngoni leader, he led his people north from KwaZulu-Natal through present-day Swaziland, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Zambia, and Malawi.

The migration was mainly composed of young warrior men. B's great-grandfather was then absorbed into this migration. This group of people finally settled in northern Malawi, eastern Zambia, and southern Tanzania.

As the Ngoni moved North, B's great-grandfather settled in Malawi, in Mzimba district. The young warriors killed any men they found on the land, took over it and took the women as their wives.

In their case, they settled in Mzimba, where the women spoke the Tumbuka language, and that's how the Ngoni people of North Malawi adopted Tumbuka as their local dialect.

This led them to gradually lose much of their original language, with B's great-grandfather being the last one to speak fluent isiZulu. Now, the Ngoni of Northern Malawi speak Tumbuka as their mother tongue.

The culture of the Ngoni includes;
🗡️Living in established Kingdoms ruled by Chiefs.
🗡️War dances (Ingoma) echoing Zulu traditions.
🗡️ Praise poetry (Izibongo) is used to honour chiefs and ancestors.
🗡️Clan names exist. I.e Moyo

In this event, B's dad was crowned the Chief (King) of the (Kingdom) - William Moyo Village - renamed to honour his grandfather. The event is called a Chieftancy (Ufumu), and Dad is now a Mfumu.

That makes me a Princess 🫅

You asked for it. I’ll keep it real.

Digital dopamine businesses run the world right now. Kids, teens, adults, and all are glued to screens, trapped in loops we don’t even notice.

Think about it…

The last generation overindulged in food, drinks, alcohol, cigarettes → paid the price with diabetes, heart disease, high BP, etc.

Our generation? We work out more, walk more, hit the gym, but we’ve traded our bodies for our minds.

We’re losing attention. Losing critical thinking. Choosing convenience at the cost of control.

So here’s my question for you:
👀 What long-term damage are we building for ourselves?
👀 And how do we take back control before it’s too late?

Comment your thoughts below. 👇

And if you want me to uncover more, drop “Part 3”, the rabbit hole goes deeper.

#digitaldopamine #digitaltrap #consumerism #attentioneconomy #digitalconsumerism #digitaldopaminebusiness #digitalloop #freeyourmind #takebackyourattention #ONR

Do you think there are adverse effects we will experience in the near future from all the screentime and dopamine loops we are predisposed to in most of our current lives?
Happy Birthday, My Love 🤎
Not only do I get to love you and be loved by you, but I also get to love and be loved by my second mum and dad, which is the biggest blessing and gift you've given me.🫶🏾

On this day, we had so much fun (probably more than you 😅 as you can tell from all the singing#Karafun). I want you to know I will forever be your biggest cheerleader through all the ups (no downs here, please), you've got me by your side, till the end of time ~ we've got each other. 🔒

I would have loved to put a song on this post, but I want to remember and cherish the Karaoke moments I had on this day with mum.☺️

Cheers to your new year, B🥂
(Wish my B a happy birthday in the comments.👇🏾)
I went down this rabbit hole and thought, why not take you with me?

Maybe it’s age, maybe it’s maturity, but the lens I see the world through now is different.

Everywhere I look, businesses are engineering products to prey on our senses and impulses. And they wrap it all in one word: choice.

But here’s the paradox. If addiction is a disease, then are we really “choosing” it? Or are we just letting ourselves be infected, one purchase, one sip, one snack at a time?

At what point does choice stop being free will and start becoming slavery?

I don’t have a neat answer. The truth is messy. It’s not black and white. But it feels like a conversation we all need to have because if we don’t ask, then we stay blind.

As Kanye said: It all falls down. Go listen to that song; a throwback, but he wasn’t wrong.

I won’t tell you to stop consuming but I will challenge you to re-evaluate where you’re overconsuming and what it’s costing you, before it consumes you.

Comment 'Part 2' for another round of exploitative business to look out for.

Ps. The goal here isn’t to shame consumption. It’s to consume with caution.

How many businesses mentioned have you on a chokehold? Vote here 👇🏾
This has been bothering me lately....

(Hence my disappearance on this platform, but here are my summarized thoughts...)

Hidden trade-offs of managing life while being Dopamine Tolerant:

🫩You may function but you'll notice less natural drive to start or stick with things especially heavy projects that aren't instantly rewarding.

🫩What used to feel exciting now feels bland, so you subconsciously seek more intense, frequent hits of stimulation. I.e Work pressure or Social media.

🫩You become less sensitive to subtle pleasures of life like quiet wins, finishing reading a book etc.

🫩You learn every day, but somehow you can't retain or recall some of those concepts over time.

🫩Satisfaction becomes harder to sustain. You find yourself asking "What's next?" after achieving big milestones and confuse it for ambition, while your brain is being starved from contentment and appreciation.

🫩You are now optimizing your life to less strategic living and more reactive living. Why? Because dopamine tolerance nudges you towards choices with quick feedback than delayed rewards.

Basically,

We have replaced deep thinking with dopamine farming, created humans who feel busy but never build, humans who feel smart but never think, humans who feel connected but are more isolated than ever.

What are your thoughts on this topic?

Comment "Short Term" for the habits I'm employing in my life to turn this around 360° and reduce the adverse effects of Dopamine Tolerance.

A wise man once said, 'Follow the money, Follow the Paper Trail, the answers lay there.'

Part 6 is live ⛏️

I needed to understand WHY our leaders resort to TAXES every financial year, and I got my answer ~ They refuse to do the hard work.

It's not news to anyone that we are in a crisis, the fiscal pressure we are currently facing as a country is dire and we need MONEY like yesterday!

BUT...

Our president is not ready to make political enemies. They refuse to face the blatant truth that our current government setup isn't sustainable anymore.

I hope the 6 Parts showed you that:

🤔 We have over 3000 top state officials, thousands of salaries, allowances, offices, cars, secretaries all funded by our taxes, yet hospitals still lack medicine and schools lack desks.

If service delivery hasn't improved, WHY are we still paying so many people?

🤔 The government spends close to 70% of its revenue on salaries. In fact we BORROW to PAY SALARIES and NOT to Build Kenya.

🤔 National government has ministries, county government SAME ministries. MPs represent constituencies, MCAs represent wards INSIDE THE SAME CONSITUENCIES. Talk about expensive confusion. We are duplicating roles instead of streamlining them.

🤔 The Biggest Scam: Nominated Mps, Senators MCAs, all in the name of 'balancing representation' while most of these roles have no clear deliverables.🤦🏾‍♀️

With over 600 nominated women reps across the devolved government, have any of them stood up to fight Femicide in Kenya? or Supported @usikimye_ in their ventures? Wanafanya kazi gani basi?

Last but not least:

🤔 Do you know Kenya has more state officials than the United States which has 50 states? We have more leaders per citizen than most countries yet we see fewer results by the day.🤦🏾‍♀️

WE ARE RUNNING A GOVERNMENT FOR POLITICIANS NOT FOR THE PEOPLE.

This system was built to deliver services, now it's used to accommodate political deals, friendships and allies. 😤

Remember to comment 👇🏾 Part 7 ⛏️ and your thoughts on this. As always, if anything is inaccurate, educate me in the comments. The goal remains to learn and understand governance.

Part 5 is live.⛏️

Edited * [Slide 15 is supposed to read 'total disbursed monthly.' To get the total disbursed annually, multiply the figures by 12 months to get:
FY 23/24 - Ksh. 3.218 billion and FY 24/25 - Ksh. 3.307 billion; Ksh. 89 million increase from the previous year.]

Wuehh...at this rate hii series itafika Part 20. 😮‍💨

About Devolution:

I believe devolution was a good idea, but it quickly became an overkill.

Let's be honest:

🤔 Do we need a woman rep for every county?

🤔 Can we not merge small constituencies and reduce the number from 290?

Also, suppose they really cared about gender balance. In that case, they should enforce quotas (where every party should have a certain percentage of women, youth and people of special interests) within party structures like Rwanda and South Africa and not create new roles. (This inflates our bill exponentially!)

We were on the right path, but the current system is anything but efficient. The more I dig deeper, the messier it becomes. "Too many cooks spoil the broth."

Last but not least: QUICK REMINDER!!

Our wage bill is too high, and corruption is rooted within those overlapping roles. If nothing changes, Kenya will stay stuck in the same hole, and nothing will change!

We have:
💸133 Executive members.
💸418 Members of the National Assembly and Senate.
💸 560 County Executive officials.
💸1450 Members of the County Assembly
💸 2 governments

And this is not including the judicial system yet!

As always, if anything is inaccurate, educate me in the comments. The goal remains to learn and understand governance.💪🏾

Before you go, comment Part 6 👇🏾and let me know: 🤔
1. Do you also feel our government is bloated?
2. What roles would you suggest to be scrapped off?

Part 4 is live.⛏️

Edited* [Slide 18 is partially inaccurate - I rectify this mistake in Part 6.]

72 hours later, my head wants to explode.🤯

Firstly, thank you all for following the Governance Series, sharing your thoughts and opinions in the comments and sharing. 🙏🏾

Honestly, it's about time we Learn Governance.
In 2027, we ask the right questions!!!🗳️🗳️

Now, help me understand why:

😮‍💨1. Our leaders steal, yet they have such hefty paychecks. Ps. I haven't even gotten to their benefits and other allowances. (You'll choke!)

😮‍💨2. Is it just me, or are MPs paid double? Their salaries are so high, yet they earn "EXTRA" in the name of "sitting allowances" to do their MAIN job?

Make it make sense???

Also, BILLIONS are spent annually on allowances, and to make it worse:

🤦🏾‍♀️I saw an article on February 25th, 2025, about the PSC attempting to request MORE allowances from SRC. I'll share in Part 5. (Thankfully, the court stepped in and said No!)

Last one: SRC has validated their new salaries for 2025-2031, starting July 1, 2025, for FY 25/26. I am very much invested and interested in seeing their new pay rises.

Heh!!! 😩💯

We need deep reform, guys!

We honestly need a leader who will streamline our finances and our arms of government!

#LetsLearnGovernance
Ps. This is a continuation...

Y'all have pushed me into the thicket of research, especially on our country's governance and fiscal discipline.

Now...

I finally understand why our teachers and doctors are always on strike. 😮‍💨😭 They are literally the last in priority because Debt and State Officials have to be paid first.🤔

Human capital vs Political Appetite?🤢😮‍💨

Make it make sense.

Education and Health are the backbone of a society, yet our country prioritizes state spending for TOP OFFICIALS and recurrent overheads while Frontline workers go months without pay!

I'll explore this in depth in Part 4. Please remember to Comment ⬇️.

As always, if anything is inaccurate, educate me in the comments. The goal is to Learn and Understand Governance.

We need to vote for better leaders from now on!!!🗳️

#Part3 #GovernanceSeriesbyONR #KenyanPolitics #KenyanGovernance #Rutoregime #EndPoliceBrutality #Protests #June2025
Part 2 ⛏️ (Read part 1 first)...
This is a continuation.

Funny thing, I believed that our country was broke, but the reality is, WE ARE NOT BROKE, our leaders refuse to lead with Integrity.❌

Am curious? Help me understand...🤔

Ruto emphasized in his campaign he was a " Hustler", a chicken farmer, a whole entrepreneur.

🤔 How come he cannot seem to revive our SOEs?

🤔 Does he not have business experience?

🤔 Does he not own multiple businesses ranging in different sectors?

🤔 Did he not claim that the majority of his wealth stemmed from running multiple profitable personal entities? (Or are they only profitable because of other reasons?)

🤔 Isn't' a hustler's true intention be to bring the country's assets into profitability? (Especially after seeing the mismanagement over the years as a deputy president?)

Unless Leadership changes, this cycle of economic shortcuts, heavy taxation and public burden, will remain the norm!!!

Remember to comment ⬇️
What's your biggest takeaway?

One word - E L E C T R I C
@shomadjozi at the @lakeofstars was a 10/10 minus nothing performance. Yoh, those dancers must have been on creatine because non-stop, 1 hour of intense dancing is no easy feat.
Also, enjoyed listening to Sho's traditional songs, where she performed a traditional Xibelani dance, and wears a skirt called a Tinguvu, popular in the Tsonga culture (Had to Google this part - Check slides 12-14)
I thoroughly enjoyed this performance. The professionalism to her craft is really up there. 🙌🏾👏🏾👏🏾

Day 2 : Part 1
If there is something I know for sure is, trust to find Kenyans everywhere even at the @lakeofstars From the moment I wore my flag, all of a sudden waKenya walijitokeza speaking Swahili and saying hi. It's so cool man to know our people are everywhere.

We enjoyed the most authentic pineapple juice, and cultural performances. Top tier day. I really love being African.
Seeing people from Europe, Asia 🌏 fly to experience the culture and richness of Africa really tells you we have so much soul and life. It's great to see and be around.

Cheers to the mother land.
I love Africa. #PanAfrican
Where is the most uncommon place you visited but still found a Kenyan?

Mine is definitely @lakeofstars
I never expected it.
#lakeofstars #lakeofstarsfestival #KenyaninMalawi #nkhotakota
Since I met B on campus, he has always talked about bringing me to Lake of Stars. A three-day multi-cultural international festival (held on the shores of Lake Malawi, with musical acts drawn mainly from Africa and Europe.) The first festival took place in 2004 and this year, LOS is celebrating 20 years.

Here is a glimpse of Day 1 in a nutshell:
1- The Moyo's.
2 - How he looks at me.
3 - After realizing our fuck up.😂
4 - Nairobi to Eldoret kind of distance.🥴
5 - Meet Mbewa, the farm rat consumed in North Malawi.
6 - Shopping for the nicest looking rat to eat.
7 - Time to indulge.🍽️
8 - 3 sleeps later, we've arrived!
9 - A hearty opening celebration. 🎆 🎇
10 - It's the fire blow for me. So cool.
11 - Always a good time with my love even when we are tired AF.
12 - First meal at the festival.
13 - Lake of Stars, I can't believe I'm here.

Day 1...
Amazing. Thank you B for bringing me to this experience. I love you.😘🇲🇼

Share with me your favorite slide. 👇🏾
Mine is definitely slide 5, first time seeing a rat grilled for consumption 😲. Next time, I'll tell him to eat one.

Compassion involves 2 things:
✨ Intention and ✨ Action.

Intention means you remember to open your heart to others, you expand what and who matters, from yourself to other people.

Action is "what you do about it."

I experienced this feeling being in the presence of @virtuouswomen_foundation and @gingko.africa celebrating these beautiful, young teen mom's from the slums.

Reminding them that they are loved, thought about and cared for even if it might not feel like it sometimes.

This was a fulfilling mother's day celebration for me and being there to encourage them to use the resources like the internet, social media to build sustainable businesses also affirms my journey more than anything.

Cheers CEO @sarahkabu for what you do behind the scenes, super admirable👏🏾, @gingko.africa team for such a job well done on ground, offering mentorship to young teen parents, @kabiwajesus for praying for us, @millywajesus for her words of hope and a great time with everyone who was here on this day.

My cup was and is full.

It's not so important what you do, just that you do something. In Mother Teresa's words ~ We cannot do great things on this earth, we can only do small things with great love.❤️
