Kane from Kane’s Kitchen Affair and I, burst MYTHS about Importing from China – ‘Chinese stuff are FAKE_’🧐

Kane from @kanes_kitchenaffair on Instagram and I did an amazing 90-minute Instagram live session over the weekend about Importing, and we shared all the Importing secrets you need to start your business under Ksh. 10,000/-.

It was such a fantastic session, and despite you not attending live (partly because we didn’t invite you), we saved the live session, and you have the chance to go through all the topics we dealt with.

Watch the Instagram live replay here – How to start a business with Ksh. 10,000/=

Kane and I dealt with the following topics:

  • How and Why Alibaba is Significantly Cheaper than Amazon.
  • Why you should choose Alibaba to buy products for sale for your business.
  • How Alibaba has transformed my businesses.
  • How to get high-end packaging for your business for cheap from Alibaba.
  • How do I save so much money importing anything directly from China via Alibaba than buying in Kenya?
  • Is it essential to order samples for your business, and when should you consider purchasing a sample first?
  • What is MOQ, and how do you navigate large MOQs as a new business owner?
  • How to place an order with a supplier on Alibaba.
  • How to ensure you get quality products while engaging with your supplier.
  • How to avoid paying handsomely when shipping your products in.
  • Things to look out for when communicating with a supplier.
  • Bursting the Myth that China has poor-quality products.

And so much more. It was 90 minutes. So, I do hope you spare a moment in your day to take a look at it.

I, however, must show you my favourite screengrab from the live sesh.

Can you see Kane’s facial expression?

You may wonder what I said to Kane to make that facial expression.

You should watch the live to get the full gist, but let me spill a little. If you zoom in on what I am holding, I purchased a set of 24 spice jars from Alibaba China.

This is what 1 carton of the set looks like and what it came with.

Kane wanted to spruce up her kitchen and made her purchase on Amazon last year in September. She purchased the set for about USD 55, probably Ksh. 7000 at an exchange rate of 127, as she mentioned in the live.

Here is a reel to watch her set it up.

I also purchased the same set from Alibaba but recently this year in March. How much did I spend? I spent Ksh. 1490 to buy a similar spice jar carton set.

Here is a screenshot of my invoice.

I purchased 4 sets for which I paid a total of USD 42.4 (as shown in the screenshots above), equivalent to Ksh. 5960/- with an exchange rate of 140.57 at the time.

Therefore, if 4 sets were 5960/-, 1 set was 5960/4 = Ksh. 1490/=. Making the cost of 1 spice bottle come to 1490/24 = 62 bob. (Without shipping costs)

Compared to Kane’s cost of 7000/24 = 292 bob for 1 spice jar. (Without shipping costs.) An apparent disparity of Ksh. 230/-. That’s a lot.

If you watch the live, you’ll see we went much more in-depth about our experiences, how much 1 set is currently being sold in Kenya, and how viable it is to sell such a product and make a considerable profit.

With that being said,

This is the best thing ONR can ever give you! This is a gift that will:
